I worked on Days Park Renovation as part of the Borland Architecture Group team, taking responsibility for the technical side of the upgrade to an existing house beside the park. My role covered the development of the consent set, detailed construction drawings and key junctions, as well as refining the design with the lead architect so it could be delivered cleanly on site. It was an early opportunity for me to carry a renovation project through the documentation phases and support the team as the house moved toward construction.
I translated the agreed design into a coordinated package that could be built. I reworked the internal layout in model and plan, set up a clear drawing set, and developed the technical information needed for consent, including wall build-ups, openings, flashing details and key structural adjustments to the existing frame. As the documentation progressed, I coordinated with the design lead and responded to practical constraints in the existing house, making sure the drawings were buildable while still reflecting the original intent.
This renovation takes a dated dwelling on the edge of Days Park and turns it into a contemporary, park-facing home. The existing structure is largely retained, but the plan is stripped back and reorganised so daily living faces towards the green space rather than the street. A new glazed frontage opens the main living areas to views and daylight, while the exterior remains calm and familiar, giving the house a quieter presence in the neighbourhood.
